Montenegro expects the peak of the 2020 tourist season in September

22nd August 2020

As around the world, so in our country, the period of the tourist season remained indefinite in 2020.

The new circumstances, caused by the coronavirus pandemic, have conditioned a new type of communication towards strategically important emitting markets.

Due to the opening of borders and airlines, Montenegro is expecting a far better post-season and a mass arrival of tourists from the region, Serbia and Russia, said the director of the National Tourist Organization (NTO), Zeljka Radak Kukavicic.

Of course, this season is not comparable to any other season in our country or in the world, and the goal is to communicate clear and precise information regarding the tourist entry regimes in communication with partners. Also, through all communication channels, we present protocols and standards that are applied in all tourist and catering facilities, beaches, airports, transportation, etc. so that our guests know that our prevention and protection of guests with the quality of the offer comes first.

“Every opening of the borders to and from Montenegro is a chance for tourism. This applies to all markets. The decision of the National Coordination Body to, in addition to the already open borders, open borders, among others, with the countries of the region, Russia, will undoubtedly influence the renewal of tourist traffic from these markets, ” said Radak Kukavičić.

In addition to the national airline Montenegro Airlines (MA), which will have flights twice a day from Podgorica and Tivat to Belgrade, additional optimism is added by the announcements of Air Serbia, which will operate to Podgorica and Tivat up to 15 that is, 16 times a week.

“For now, Russian tourists coming to Montenegro travel through indirect destinations or through general aviation. According to the information we receive from our hotel and tourism industry, the inquiries we receive every day from tour operators from the Russian market, trips from this market that were planned have been postponed to September and October. The borders, without additional conditions, are open to the Russian market, and we expect that similar measures will be applied on the other hand, given that Montenegro is one of the favorite destinations for tourists from Russia, as shown by the trends recorded from year to year. ” , said Radak-Kukavičić for Vikend news.

The Tourist Organization of the Municipality of Budva pointed out that the increase in interest and increased reservations by Serbian tourists is additional proof that this is not the end of the tourist season in Montenegro.
When it comes to entering the country, so far everything is working well and no big crowds have been noticed at the borders, and the re-establishment of air transport will further facilitate the arrival of tourists by reducing their travel time.
