Herceg Novi is recognizable by the richness of mimosa trees and numerous steps. It is often called the “City of the Sun”, thanks to the large number of sunny days throughout the year. The center of Herceg Novi is the Old Town, decorated with buildings dating from the Sahat – Kula (1667) and Kanli – Kula (1483) epochs. The Fortress of Spain (1538) and the Fortress of Forte Mare (1687) are only part of the cultural heritage of this famous city. Herceg Novi, with its greenery, hides many types of tropical flowers. At the end of January, the city becomes fragrant with the subtle scent of yellow and green mimosa and there is a special festival dedicated to this flower, called the Mimosa Festival. During the summer months, many festivals are organized in order to further enrich the tourist offer of this enchanted city.
